Violet (Violet Tricolor)
Violet, also known as Heartease is a soothing and moisturizing herb that can be used to treat eczema, acne, cradle cap, diaper rash, itchy skin, and varicose veins - among many other conditions. Its gentle expectorant qualities make it the perfect addition in Forest Rub to use as a chest rub for all ages. The high zinc content may contribute to positive results as an anti-acne treatment and diaper rash treatment.
Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis)
Lemon balm has many uses as a topical skin treatment. There is clinical evidence that lemon balm can help heal cold sores from the herpes virus (HSV). It is a nervine relaxing herb when ingested and may help instill a sense of calm when applied topically. Lemon balm is anti-inflammatory and provides relief from skin irritations and redness. Its high antioxidant content protect the skin from UV damage.
Lavender (Lavandula x intermedia)
Lavender is ideal for combination skin. Lavender has been shown to be beneficial for post-birth healing and post-cesarean pain. Lavender oil has also been studied as aromatherapy to alleviate postpartum blues. Lavender oil has been found to reduce symptoms of colic in babies. Topically, lavender is cleansing, soothing, and regenerative. These qualities can be attributed to its volatile oil content, which includes linalyl acetate, linalool, and lavandulol, and alpha-caryophyllene. The name for lavender actually comes from the latin, lavare meaning “to wash”. Also renowned for its anti-depressant and aromatic qualities, lavender is quite a versatile herb. We choose to use a variety of lavender for our products to provide support for all skin types to mitigate effects of UV damage, reduce scarring, and assist in balancing the skin.
